Looking back through my clips and realising how much we take our bodies for granted...the ‘simple’ actions, standing, stretching, crouching, walking I’ve not been able to do for over two months since my injury / surgery...I’ve not been able to stretch my canvases, jump on a chair/ ladder to put work on the wall, many other ‘basic’ work tasks I would normally do...get my own food, go up and down stairs, get bathed/ dressed without needing help..being at risk of falling and causing further injury..being pushed about in a wheelchair...sigh. But as I’m starting to take steps and due to start my physio, I’m grateful. Thankful that this situation is not permanent and I’ll be walking again soon, grateful I’ve had family there to support and look after me, grateful that they’re still there despite my impatience and frustration at my situation 😩 grateful that I’ve had the mental space and been forced to take the much needed time out...the human body is amazing, it’s why I return to its form time and time again in my work... I can’t wait to get off my (now flat) ass 😄 and get back into the swing if things...man, give thanks for the interruptions that force us to adapt and look at things differently 🙏🏽 #ayeshafeisal #body #mind #spirit #studio #ayeshasarthouse #canvas #stretching #black #british #female #visual #artist #london

#tbt throwing it back to this old drawing/ self portrait I found.
