Interrupt, corrupting code (2020), 90 x 90 , acrylic on canvas We’re in extremely surreal times right now, and whilst we’re all waiting to return to ‘normality’ I’m not sure that’s possible (in the sense of ‘how things were before’...I honestly feel there’s been a shift in our collective psyche and the earths energy...for example I’ll compare it to the way in which you’ve ‘seen’ something you can’t then ‘unsee’ it...they’ll be many rebirths in a sense as people renew their bodies’ and minds during this period...we all have the power to define our relationship with time right now...I’ve always thought of it as the greatest asset #stayhealthy #staysafe #staycurious #staypositive #staycreative #quarantineart #acrylicpainting #ayeshafeisal #ayeshasarthouse #ukart #artistsoninstagram

My interest in the human form was sparked when I got the opportunity to study life drawing on my Art A Level course...how slight movements and gestures could convey so much, being able to see how muscle and mass could distort and foreshorten under the gaze...what also fascinated me also was how the whole class would be viewing the same subject but how different our perspectives and representations would be.....Over time in my work I began to explore the psyche alongside the form, the spiritual and physical and the dynamism that exists within those intersections...I also began to really appreciate how amazing our spiritual houses are and how much they are capable of. Happy international women’s day!!!! Mother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, niece , grandmother, granddaughter and the many other roles we as woman occupy know that what you bring to the world is unique and today we can take a little time celebrate and appreciate!! To all the women throughout my life who have influenced, offered advice, care, love, nurturing, support, guidance, friendship, sisterhood or who have positively impacted my life in any way (way too numerous to mention or tag in this post) I thank you!! 🙏🏽 whilst a times it can be challenging (every month for example 😄)I’m grateful for my XX determination 😜 The feminine energy is a powerful, creative force and for that I give thanks Happy international women’s day!! Work featured: With Adam’s Ale Eve Knows (I) “Adam’s Ale is an old colloquial term for Water (based on the presumption that biblical Adam had only water to drink in the Garden of Eden). I wanted to include water within these works for the symbolic references including fertility, source of life, wisdom and intuition. The deepest waters in this world are still unexplored, so for me water also represents a kind of mysticism. The changeable qualities of water (liquid, solid, vapour) also allude to the idea of metamorphosis. When I was titling the works, I was thinking about the female’s position in a patriarchal culture. How (as a society) did we arrive at Patriarchy and its set of ideas? It got me thinking about the Adam and Eve creation story…how possibly the narratives and dogma we’re exposed to from childhood (ie Eve’s punishment for her disobedience) form subconscious beliefs in the psyche which are then perpetuated throughout the years without question. These then provide justification for the status quo?
