Lightseeker

40 x 35 x32 cms, paper-clay, polyurethane, acrylic and resin, 2022

The Lightseeker includes hundreds of hand-crafted “seeds,” each one representing the spiritual essence at the core of every individual — a reflection of both life and consciousness. T

The inspiration came from the pomegranate, a fruit long linked with death and fertility. In many traditions, the so-called “forbidden fruit” in the Garden of Eden is commonly depicted as an apple, but some believe it was actually a pomegranate. In this work, the pomegranate stands in as a symbol of knowledge, truth, and awakening — a reminder that questioning accepted beliefs can lead to deeper understanding.

Colour plays a key role in amplifying these themes. Blue represents the throat chakra — the center of expression, purpose, and truth. When blocked, this energy can create silence, uncertainty, and a fear of speaking. The clustered forms around the throat area of the sculpture reflect this tension. White, on the other hand, signifies openness, reflection, and growth — a space where clarity and transformation can occur.

Through these elements, The Lightseeker invites reflection on what we accept as truth, what we repress, and how we awaken to our own voice.
