43 x 35 x 35 cms, paper-clay, polyurethane, acrylic and resin, 2021 (sold)
Created during the pandemic, Foreign Body emerged from a period of uncertainty and collective upheaval. The work reflects on restriction, adaptation and the experience of navigating profound change at both an individual and societal level.
Constructed using polyurethane, paperclay, resin and acrylic, it was developed through a process of layering, manipulation and intervention. The unpredictable nature of polyurethane became an integral part of the making process, requiring a continual negotiation between control and surrender.
As the work evolved, I became increasingly aware of the parallels between the creative process and the wider shifts taking place around us. Although rooted in ideas of limited movement and containment, the work ultimately became an exploration of transformation, resilience and the possibility of renewal in the face of adversity.
